Natural Medicines & Remedies: Ginger

Ginger is a root native to Asia. Not only does ginger taste good and add a lovely flavor to everything from baked treats to meat marinades, it is a little known nausea cure.

Ayurvedic doctors and old Chinese medicine have long suggested ginger as a cure for nausea and stomach problems and modern science has finally caught on. Various studies have proven that ginger helps to curb nausea as well as vomiting. It also helps with the nausea associated with chemotherapy and sea sickness. It also works great for pregnant mothers experiencing morning sickness, and it is natuarl and safe too.

Ginger is so effective becaue it relaxes the gastrointestinal muscles. You can get it in powder form, in capsule (check to make sure the capsules are gluten free if you are sensitive to gluten), as a tea or even wash and cut the root to soak it in hot water and drink it.

Note: If  you are allergic to tubers or root plants ginger may not be for you. Check with your doctor first.
