Gluten Free Flour Mix

It was a lot better than I thought it was going to be.

It was a lot better than I thought it was going to be.

It is usually more economical to buy gluten free flours in bulk and make your own mix of flour that you use for baking.

This is the mix I normally make (when I am not using coconut flour):

- 1 teaspoon xanthan gum

- 1 1/2 cups brown rice flour or sorghum flour

- 1 cup white rice flour

- 1/2 cup tapioca, potato or corn starch

Makes 3 cups.

I did have the opportunity to try this gluten free flour and I was surprised how versatile it was. It was purchased for me by a friend and I would use it again in the future if i was out of my own flour mix. It would be good to have on had in the event that you are in a pinch or it is just too cold this winter to go out and get other kinds of flours.

This brand is organic and it worked in my muffin recipe just fine. There are even a few recipes on the back.

If you do try this flour, you will find that it is easy and convenient. For those of us who do not always have the time to make our own flour, i think it is just great. Enjoy!

Thanks for this! I have now purchased over 8 different flours to still be seeking a few out to fulfil recipe requirements so I will try this in lieu of finding every obscure flour known to man.

Thanks Chelsea. I’ll give this a shot. My girlfriend is gluten free so i’m always on the lookout for new stuff, so i can actually cook for her. I usually use Bob’s Red Mill stuff, but i’m all about trying new stuff.

    Hey Chris,
No problem! It is really kind of you to be so concerned with you gf, gf (how is that for repetitive?). I am sure you will make some great things for her. Let me know if you need any tips or suggestions.
