Spicy food is one of my favorite things in the world. The chemical capsaicin that is present in spicy food tells your brain the food is hot and causes your brain to release endorphins which makes eating spicy foods a painfully good experience.

But did you know…
Spicy Foods have been studied and have proven to be beneficial for everything from weight loss, cancer prevention and anti-inflammatory properties.

Here is a recipe for one of my favorite quick and easy gluten free dishes, Spicy Shrimp Stir Fry

ingredients: (serves 2)
- 1/2 lb. (22-28 count) shrimp
- 1 6-7 in. zucchini
- 10 fresh green beans
- 1/4 cup white onion chopped
- 4 minced garlic cloves
- 1 tbs. olive oil
- 1 tsp. sesame oil
- 2 tsp. gluten free tamari soy sauce
- 2-4 tbs. garlic chili sauce/paste (found in the Asian section of the grocery store)

1. cut ends off green beans and chop into 1 inch. pieces and cut the zucchini in half length wise then cut into half moons.
2. in a large skillet heat olive oil on medium-medium high heat. add the garlic and onions and saute for 1-2 minutes and then add the green beans and zucchini.
3. saute until the onions become nearly translucent and the veggies have slightly softened. but make sure they are not all the way cooked or they will become mushy when the shrimp are finished cooking.
4. add shrimp along with the soy sauce, sesame oil and chili sauce/paste.
5. saute the shrimp until finished cooking, you will know when it is finished when it has begun to curl up, but also maintains some of its “squishiness” if your shrimp is over cooked it will be very firm and dry. For this recipe the shrimp are normally sauteed for 5-7 minutes.
*note* i like spice so I add 4 tbs. of the chili sauce/paste. For mild add only 1, for medium add 2, for spicy add 3 and for 4 alarm fire, add 4.

When I make this for a group I tend to serve it with rice, but I normally eat it alone or with quinoa.

Let me know what you think about this recipe in the comments section.

Add the shrimp, being careful not to overcook it.

This dish is great with chicken or beef and it is perfect to put over rice or quinoa.
